Chevon - Lean, Organic, Red Meat

CCC

As the marketing of chevon increases in the United States, so does the consumers need for information about the nutritional quality of this alternative meat source. Chevon has been shown to have similar amounts of proteins as other meats, but considerably higher amounts of iron, potassium, and thiamin. All essential amino acids are obtained when chevon is incorporated into the diet.

Perhaps the greatest difference lies in the amount of fat and caloric levels found in a three ounce portion of similarly cooked beef and skinless chicken when compared to chevon. Chevon has 2.6 fat grams, where lean beef has 16, and skinless chicken 3.5. On a caloric level chevon has 122, lean beef 245, and skinless chicken 120. It has been shown that chevon is a high quality protein source with a healthy amount of fat. It is clear that health conscious consumers will select chevon.
